Week 10 - Tuesday

Sam -
Today we had a quick lecture in the pit about 4th year, super crit on Friday, and thoughts of what we could include in the dossier.
Then it was up to studio to get to work.

The girls and I had a think about what we needed to do and what we wanted for super crit on Friday so that we could plan out how we could make it all happen!

These are the notes we made:

First things first, we drafted up a journey map as we'd heard a couple of times that this was reasonably important, and specifically important for our project.

So I will clean this up and then we will highlight which stages we are focusing on.

I also think it would be really good to create a "future" plan of potential opportunities we've identified but just couldn't get to in our 6 week time frame.

Lee came over to check in with us and was really happy with the progress we were making and said she loved our visual and used more great words like: "slick", "friendly", "modern" :D

We took some headshots and Katie was able to continue working on the website. We drafted up what we wanted for our account page and that is her homework to have done for Friday's super crit.

As a group we discussed the packaging work I'd done and decided for me to try it printed with the outside wow! and then a rest level and then more wow! on the inside - kind of like our website.

Lauren is in charge of editing together our video so that we can put it into the hologram style.

At 11:30 we headed to the Industrial Dept to discuss making our hologram tool. This went so so well and Gus was really lovely and helpful. He sold us some acrylic which we took away and drew our shapes up onto and then we took it back and he cut it up for us. We then taped it up and took it back to test with a generic hologram video - and it works!!! :)

We got our instructions from:

Katie and I stayed back after this for the afternoon and continued on with what we had to do.

I needed to write up the benefits for the website and thought that we needed a stat to really push our proposition. So I did some research and came across gold:

From this website: http://blog.accessperks.com/employee-engagement-loyalty-statistics-the-ultimate-collection I found some really useful statistics:

  • Highly engaged employees are:
    • 2.5 times more likely to stay at work late if something needs to be done after the normal workday ends
    • more than twice as likely to help someone at work even if they don’t ask for help
    • more than three times as likely to do something good for the company that is not expected of them
    • more than five times as likely to recommend that a friend or relative apply for a job at their company (Temkin Group
  • Employees who are engaged and have high well-being are:
    • 42% more likely to evaluate their overall lives highly
    • 27% more likely to report "excellent" performance in their own job at work
    • 27% more likely to report "excellent" performance by their organization
    • 45% more likely to report high levels of adaptability in the presence of change
    • 37% more likely to report always recovering "fully" after illness, injury or hardship
    • 59% less likely to look for a job with a different organization in the next 12 months
    • 18% less likely to change employers in a 12-month period
    • 19% more likely to volunteer their time in the past month (Gallup
And this led me to another website: http://www.gallup.com/businessjournal/190352/managing-employee-risk-requires-culture-compliance.aspx where I got the all important figure:

business units with high employee engagement have 21% higher productivity compared to bottom quartile counterparts.

When researching I also found this article really insightful:
However it focused more on what needed to change than the benefits of that change.
